Your right Mark, this concept can easily apply to doing things we dread and I endorse that 100%. The main concern of mine is many will sacrifice their entire existence worrying about what bad things "could" happen if they do this or do that, and totally lose sight that many times the stuff we worry about never indeed happens.
The point is good or bad, take the very first step and get it going! Thanks for the reply Mark it means a lot!

Right on. I remember the first day Angela and I ventured out to the nearby park in January to attempt our first "run." It was the middle of winter - a time when, even in North Carolina, it can be cold enough to just want to stay in - and twice around the .2 mile loop was a beast that nearly caused me to keel over. I'm well past that point now, but, many miles and beads of sweat have come since that day to make the cardiovascular end of that challenge the easy joy that it is now. My body, on the other hand, is handing me a number of different obstacles to overcome and I'm searching and acting on everything I can find to try to work through the aches and pains that my knees and other parts are giving me. I think, also, that this concept of getting past the first, hardest step can easily be applied to the tasks that we find ourselves facing that we don't want any part of, too. The realities of life are that we have to take on a number of things each day that aren't dreams, but, necessary evils, so to speak. Just getting it started is the first step to getting it over with. ;)

Certainly some notable improvements! Weight training isn't a focus for me right now, but, it is an area that I can certainly use some work with. I think that as the winter weather rolls in I will probably start switching out some of my runs and swims for strength training. When I do, though, I'll have quite a ways to go before I even get close to the ballpark of your starting point for bench pressing! Right now, though, I know that the swimming will have a positive effect on my upper body. I enjoy reading your updates and I look forward to more! Just over a month until the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure in Charlotte!

Mark, I understand the difficulty of altering a lifestyle and I support your choice 100%. That is the beauty thing about being humans. We have the gift of self awareness and we get to make the choices that we feel best suit our needs. I believe my job on earth is to get people to think at a higher level.

The article was just something I found while googling. I will continue to experiment and evolve my own diet as I go. In my most recent post I laid out some guidelines that I think will allow me to feasibly blend what I've been learning from you with the reading and experience that I've accumulated so far in order to achieve my goals by at least improving the my intake in comparison to what it was like before we started talking about this a few weeks ago.

Mark, the diet I follow and advocate consist of COOKED "clean" meats and lots of vegetables. I will never advocate eating raw meat because our bodies evolved and flourished when we began cooking our meats. Thanks for the article my man.
